JPop@Japenese Pop

J-pop (or Jpop) is an abbreviation of Japanese pop. It refers to Western-influenced Japanese popular music. The term is widely used to describe different musical genres of pop in Japan.

Japanese stores typically divide their music into four sections: J-pop, enka (a traditional form of ballad), classical, and English/International. Some songs, such as those by Miyuki Nakajima and Anzen Chitai, represent a fusion of enka with J-pop.

Dorama@Japanese television drama

Japanese dramas (Japanese: ドラマ dorama; J-dramas; from English "drama") are a staple of Japanese television and are broadcast daily. All major TV networks in Japan produce a variety of dramas including romance, comedies, detective stories, horror and many others.

Japanese dramas are broadcast in three-month long seasons, with new dramas airing each season. The majority of dramas are aired weekdays in the evenings around 9:00pm, 10:00pm, or even 11:00pm. Dramas shown in the morning or afternoon are generally broadcast on a daily basis, and episodes of the same drama can be aired every day for several months, such as NHK's asadora, or morning dramas. The evening dramas, however, air weekly, and are usually 9 to 12 episodes long, though sometimes there will be an epilogue special made after the final episode if the drama has been a huge success.

Japanese television seasons are: Winter (January-March), Spring (April-June), Summer (July-September), and Autumn or Fall (October-December).

Manga

Manga (漫画?) listen is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. Outside of Japan, it usually refers specifically to Japanese comics. As of 2007, manga represents a multi-billion dollar global market.[1] Manga developed from a mixture of ukiyo-e and foreign styles of drawing, and took its current form shortly after World War II. It comes mainly in black and white, except for the covers and sometimes the first few pages; in some Animanga all the pages are colored.
Popular manga are often adapted into anime (Japanese for animation) once a market interest has been established (Manga is sometimes mistakenly called "anime" by those not familiar with the term). Adapted stories are often modified to appeal to a more mainstream market. Although not as common, original anime is sometimes adapted into manga (such as the Gundam franchise, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop and Tenchi Muyo).

Anime

Anime (アニメ? IPA pronunciation: /ɑnime/ listen in Japanese, but typically /ˈænɪˌme(ɪ)/ or /ˈænəˌme(ɪ)/ in English) is an abbreviation of the word "animation". Outside Japan, the term most popularly refers to animation originating in Japan. To the West, not all animation is considered anime; and anime is considered a subset of animation.

While some anime is hand drawn, computer assisted animation techniques have become quite common in recent years. Like any entertainment medium, the story lines represent most major genres of fiction. Anime is broadcast on television, distributed on media such as DVD and VHS, and included in computer and video games. Additionally, some are produced as full length motion pictures. Anime often draws influence from Japanese manga and light novels. Some anime storylines have been adapted into live action films and television series.
